Araujo Connect is a place to find people who share your connection to Brazil. That only works if you tell it something about yourself — so this page is a plain list of exactly what it keeps.
What we collect
| Data | Why | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | To sign you in | Only you and the app's administrator |
| Name and profile photo | So members can recognise each other | Other signed-in members |
| Headline and bio | Your introduction | Other signed-in members |
| Your city and state in the US | To find members near you | Other signed-in members |
| Your Brazil experiences — state, city, what you were doing there, and the years | This is the matching itself | Other signed-in members |
| How you connect to Brazil, and your Portuguese level | To improve matches | Other signed-in members |
| Connection requests and messages | To let you talk to each other | Only you and the person you are talking to |
| When you were last active | To show whether someone is online | Other members, unless you switch it off in Settings |
| Blocks and reports you submit | To keep the community safe | Only the app's moderators |
What we deliberately do not collect
- No street address. Location is city and state only. The app never asks for location permission and stores no GPS coordinates.
- No advertising and no analytics. There is no ad network, no tracking SDK, and no behavioural profiling in the app.
- No selling or sharing. Your information is never sold, rented, or handed to data brokers, and it is not used to train anything.
Who else touches your data
Two services, both acting on our behalf or at your request:
- Supabase hosts the database, authentication and photo storage.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) receives the text you type when you search for a place outside Brazil. Brazilian cities are resolved offline from a dataset that ships inside the app, so those searches leave no trace.
If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever receive Apple's relay address — we never see your real one.
Who can see your profile
Only signed-in members. Nothing in Araujo Connect is visible to the open internet, and search engines cannot index it. In Settings you can:
- limit your profile to people you have connected with, or hide it entirely;
- remove yourself from discovery and from the map;
- stop showing whether you are online;
- turn off connection requests.
Blocking someone removes you from each other's view in both directions.
Deleting your account
Settings → Delete account. This is a real deletion, not a hidden flag: your profile, experiences, connections, messages you sent, and your sign-in record are removed from the database. It cannot be undone.
Messages you sent to another member may remain visible in that member's copy of the conversation. Backups roll off within 30 days.
Children
Araujo Connect is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, write to and we will remove it.
Your rights
You can see everything the app holds about you from your own profile screen, correct it by editing, and delete all of it from Settings. If you are in a place with additional rights — such as the EU, the UK, or California — you can also ask us for a copy or ask us to delete it by writing to . We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
